It is characterised by long flower spikes with pink to light-pink tubular flowers and distinctly darker pink-red to burgundy calyces. As the season progresses, the flower spikes develop a darker pink to dark purplish-pink colour.

The variety prefers full sun and fertile, very well-drained soil. Its long main flowering period typically extends from July to September. The flowers are frequently visited by insects.
